Includes Speckled Trout (Cyniscion nebulosus); Weakfish (Cynoscion regalis); White Trout (Cynoscion arenarius) and Silver Seatrout (Cynoscion nothus) .

The staple of saltwater flyfishing in Florida’s panhandle. Savagely attacks good fly presentations all year long. Specs are usually one to two pounds but not uncommon up to eight or nine; weakfish slightly larger but less common on the Emerald Coast; whites and silvers significantly smaller but often more prolific (especially whites under lights at night, during the summer).

Poppers and gurglers very effective early and late in the Spring and Fall. Clousers, bendbacks, seaducers in sizes from 2 to 8 produce well most of the year. During the winter they can be found up coastal freshwater rivers and at warm water outflows. Jimmy Houston puts them in the same category as walleye and crappie for table fare. Though changing often (check the latest restrictions), count on limits about five and a slot requirement of 15” – 27” with one over.
