Summertime is a fantastic time to try night flyfishing
under the lights! If you've never had this experience
you're in for a treat! If you have been out at night then
you know it's exciting, a little mysterious, cooler and
usually much more productive than the summertime afternoon
heat in Florida. Some of our biggest "gator"
trout are hooked sight fishing at night! Typically experienced
fly fishers, armed with four and five weight rods, weight
forward floating lines and small (#6, & #8) flies,
anticipate large numbers of small to medium fish that
crash flies with abandon, jump high, and pull hard! Loosing
count of the total number of hookups is not uncommon.

When the
gulf of Mexico warms up to 80 F or more the "Albies"
and "Bobos" arrive. For about three months,
mid summer through early fall we can "rip" these
bad boys on fly tackle.
Though a
6 weight will work, most throw 10 weights with sink tip
lines. High quality reels are an absolute must. Cheap
ones explode on the first run by one of these torpedos.
